What’s Going On With Tiger Conservation?

It was Global Tiger Day on June 29th, a day of annual celebration that began life in 2010 and was initiated by the 13 states where tigers still roam in the wild. The governments of the various countries agreed in St. Petersburg three years ago at the first ever tiger summit, that they would trace a new future for this regal animal.

Help Draw The Line On Oil Exploration In Virunga National Park

Africa’s oldest national park is the Virunga National Park and is a treasure for local communities and for the world at large that is if we can keep the oil companies away according to a new report by Dahlberg that was published recently.The World Wild Life Fund (WWF) says UK company Soco International plc wants to explore for oil inside Virunga National Park which is also a World Heritage site. As a result the fund has launched the Draw the line campaign which seeks to keep Virunga Park free from oil prospecting.

The fight to end animal crime in Africa just gained a powerful new ally, as Barack Obama pledged to bring his considerable influence to the table. The President of the United States recently visited Tanzania as part of his tour of Africa, and made it plain for all concerned that he is supporting the WWF’s war on wildlife crime.

WWF UK charity officials are becoming increasingly concerned at the number of shipping accidents that are constantly occurring around the British Isles. Certain areas around the coast of the country have become the fourth largest for number of accidents in the world, with over 130 reported in the last 10 years.

Rare Pandas Caught on Film in China

Check out this amazing video of two rare pandas that was taken by camera traps in Western China. These two cuddly characters were caught in the desolate landscapes of the Sichuan Province, along with red pandas, golden pheasants and a leopard. WWF Concern at Dramatic Loss of Sumatran Elephants

WWF charity officials are becoming increasingly concerned at the number of Indonesian elephants that have been killed on the island of Sumatra in the last ten years. It is reported that over 120 have been either poisoned or shot in less than a decade, highlighting the fact that more needs to be done to protect these beautiful creatures from poachers.

WWF Outrage as Poachers Attack Village of Elephants

WWF charity officials were left in shock and anger when a group of poachers killed 26 elephants at the Dzanga Bai World Heritage Site in the Central African Republic. 17 armed poachers entered what is known as the ‘Village of Elephants’ with Kalashnikov rifles, to massacre the beautiful creatures for their ivory and meat.
